Steven Goldsmith

Steven Goldsmith has worked in film since taking a job as script editor for independent film company ESP in Beverly Hills in the early '80s. Steven honed his screenwriting skills over the years, writing spec scripts and studying creative writing at the University of California (bachelor's degree) and the University of Montana's renowned creative writing program (master of fine arts degree).

A skilled teacher, Steven has taught creative writing and screenwriting in universities in the United States and in his adopted country of Ireland since 1994.
Steven has been commissioned to write several screenplays since 1999 including The Bodhran Player (based on the true story of 'The Dripsey Ambush'), Paperboy (received development grant from Northern Ireland Screen) and Reconstruction of Warriors (in consultation with Jeremy Irons, now in preproduction).

In 2014 Steven was commissioned to write and direct a film as a Per Cent for Art project for the Offaly community of Shinrone: There's Something About Shinrone.
Current projects include Keep it Country and another romantic comedy set in Italy's
South Tyrol wine country: A Bottle of Primativo.
Steven also regularly provides analysis and coverage of scripts for producers in Ireland and throughout Europe.

Upon relocating to Ireland Steven worked as Communications Director for Paul Newman’s Barretstown charity where he produced a huge array of communications materials, including a promotional video he wrote and co-directed, narrated by Liam Neeson. The film won a Silver Worldmedal Award from the New York Festivals in 1999.
