SYNOPSIS
As we travel down the dark and deserted streets of the medieval ghetto of Split in Croatia, lives will intertwine and stories of murder, love and suicide will delicately unravel.
A smalltime drug dealer, a widow and her fragile son, a young junkie in a crisis, American sailors on a night´s leave, and a pair of naive teenagers will have irreversibly changed their lives by the stroke of midnight.
Each of these characters are drawn to the Roman Square, where a powerful concert performed by a lively singer (acclaimed musician Dino Dvornik) takes place in front of an emotional crowd. As the music weaves through the ghetto, the city comes alive in anticipation of the formidable fireworks display.
Shot entirely in the haunting world heritage listed Ghetto of Split, Director Arsen Anton Ostojic superbly guides us through the moody streets, utilising local Split residents (most of whom have never acted before) to preserve authentic accents. These intimate portrayals of life are compelling for audiences around the world.
