Original Title: Matar A Dios
Synopsis
Killing God takes place at an isolated house in the countryside over New Year’s Eve: Carlos and his wife Ana invite Carlos’s brother and father to spend the holidays with them at the rented house. But a strange small homeless man crashes the party claiming to be God, and announces that all of humanity will perish at dawn with the exception of two survivors – to be chosen by the dinner party.

Albert Pintó and Caye Casas are writers, directors and friends from Terrassa (Barcelona). Pintó is also film teacher at ESCAC and an advertising director, while Caye has a career as a cartoonist and pictorial humorist for magazines such as Fotogramas, Cinemania, El Periódico, Interviu and Sport. Although they have also directed some short films individually, together they achieved their first big success with the multi-award winning short film NADA S.A. (Nothing Co.).

Matar a Dios, de Caye Casas et Albert Pintó (Espagne).
C’est le réveillon du nouvel an chez ce couple sans enfant en crise – le mari soupçonne une infidélité de sa femme -, où sont invités le frère tout juste plaqué par sa compagne et le père malade. Le repas avance quand arrive un visiteur imprévu : il ressemble à un nain ventripotent qui jure et boit du vin mais annonce être Dieu ! Et il le prouve en faisant mourir puis revenir à la vie le père de famille. Il est venu pour demander une seule chose : dans quelques heures sonnera la fin du monde puisque tous vont mourir. Il n’y aura plus aucun humains vivants à l’exception de deux individus. Et ce sont les quatre membres de cette famille qui doivent choisir les deux survivants… Avec comme base cette situation surréaliste portée par des comédiens extraordinaires, le film est un déroulé d’humour noir et féroce qui dézingue à la fois le couple, la famille, le machisme des hommes, et la religion. Le film a déjà reçu le Prix du public au festival de Sitges et ses réalisateurs sont désormais considérés comme des héritiers de Alex de la Iglésia. Comment choisir 2 survivants ? Les quatre membres de cette famille vont s’affronter de plus en plus ouvertement et même envisager de tuer Dieu, mais la fin du monde approchant il faudra bien choisir …
